We started breeding Angus cattle when we settled in North Carolina in 1993 after a lifelong business career with Proctor & Gamble, most of it overseas.  While I had no direct experience with cattle, my family goes back many generations in making a living from working on the farm.

Our job is to breed bulls for commercial cattlemen.  Our object is to get those bulls to produce beef that is consumer preferred versus other sources of protein.  Good bulls come from good cows.  We built an outstanding cow herd with a few highly proven females from bloodlines that produce consistently excellent beef cattle.  Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Transplanting (ET) allowed us to multiply the proven genetics of these cows in a short period of time.

"Performance through Proven Genetics" means cattle with balanced traits.  To keep their place in the herd, our cows have to raise a calf every year that performs well in competition with the progeny of other good cows.  The cows that stay on have to maintain adequate body condition on grass in order to breed back on schedule.  Only well-balanced cattle make it over time in this environment.

The capability to generate consumer preferred levels of intramuscular fat is one of the traditionally strong traits of Angus cattle.  It gives our proven-genetic and balanced-trait Angus bulls a built-in advantage that goes beyond having a black hide.

Working with our Angus Advantage partners allows us to leverage our joint resources and experience to meet our customers' needs for reaching a new level of excellence in beef production.
